The Labrador Retriever The Labrador Retriever is a very versatile breed. They are wonderful family companions and great with people of all ages. If you are a bird hunter, they are your retriever. If you are a child who loves to play ball, they will be your best friend. They love to swim, hike, retrieve and overall just being part of the family will make this breed happy. The General Appearance They are an active breed with great intelligence and soft eyes. They come in three different colors. Their general appearance is to be strongly built, short coupled whose weight typically ranges from 55 to 75 pounds. Their tail is tapered and also referred to as an otter tail. A Labrador's coat is short and dense.
